PC component manufacturers are constantly submitting new filings for their products, but today’s listings hint at a particularly interesting collaboration between two industry giants. According to a recent filing to the Eurasian Economic Commission, an ASUS graphics card featuring a Noctua cooling solution may be under development. This filing was first spotted by hardware leaker Komachi on Twitter, and indicates that the graphics card will indeed be a GeForce RTX 3070.
The product is listed as RTX3070-8G-NOCTUA, which implies that a custom design of the RTX 3070 graphics card could arrive at some point with an all-new cooling solution. Apart from cooling, it seems that the card hasn’t changed much with this collaboration. The listing also indicates that this model of the RTX 3070 will feature 8 GB of memory, which is identical to the standard version.
Possibility of a Noctua-inspired design
Noctua is known for its industry-leading fans and cooling solutions. It comes as no surprise that ASUS may want to team up with and benefit from Noctua’s technology. If this information is true, ASUS will likely delegate the heatsink and fan design to Noctua, while it handles the rest. However, it is still unclear if this graphics card will ditch the typical flashy RGB look in favor of Noctua’s iconic beige and brown colors. We have already seen fan-made mods and renders of what the card might look like. But for now, it’s a wait-and-see situation.
ASUS was already rumored to be working with Noctua on developing a ROG Strix graphics card not too long ago, as reported by Hwcooling. When asked for comment about the Noctua collaboration, an ASUS contact stated that they “cannot comment on this yet, hopefully soon though.” Naturally, these are all just rumors and must be treated as such until ASUS or Noctua reveal new information about the collaboration.
