Assassin’s Creed Syndicate has entered the UK Video Games Charts at No.1, despite suffering the worst week one sales of any “major entries” in the series bar Assassin’s Creed: Rogue.
GFK Chart-Track reports that week one sales for the game “surpasses with ease” those of last year’s 360/PS3 title Rogue, “but its launch falls short of surpassing any of the other major entries in the famous series”, including Unity, which entered last year’s chart at No.2.
FIFA 16, meanwhile, falls to No.2, with Activision’s rhythm action game Guitar Hero Live debuting at No.3. Rock Band 4, meanwhile, has slipped out of the entire top 40 altogether, after debuting at No.10 two weeks ago.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection slips two places to No.4, while GTA V holds steady at No.5.
The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes just misses out on a top 10 debut, however, landing at No.11, with Watch Dogs re-entering at No.12 thanks to PS4 console bundles. FIFA 14 also makes a surprising re-entry at No.40 following a major price cut at retail.

Tonight’s launch of Halo 5: Guardians will likely send the Xbox One exclusive soaring straight to the top of next week’s charts, but it will be interesting to see how Syndicate performs during week two. Last year’s Unity fell from No.2 to No.6 during its second week thank to the launch of Dragon Age Inquisition and GTA V on PS4 and Xbox One. But with sales said to be lower, will Syndicate be able to hold onto a top 5 position?
