For months, rumors have been swirling about the so-called Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok, which is supposedly the next game in Ubisoft’s long-running Assassin’s Creed franchise. Nothing official has been announced yet, but one new rumor is getting considerable attention, as it claims to reveal a lot of details about the supposed game, including its release date.

According to the rumor, which stems from a 4chan user citing unnamed sources, the Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok release date is September 29, 2020. September 29 falls on a Tuesday, and since video game releases typically happen on Tuesdays and Fridays, it’s a plausible date. Not to mention Assassin’s Creed games seem to be releasing earlier with every release, with the franchise having moved from November to October with its last few entries.

Considering the source of the rumor, though, fans shouldn’t be marking their calendars just yet. While a September 29 release date for Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok isn’t a totally outlandish claim, no proof has been provided by the leaker to back up their claims. Fans should certainly treat the information with a grain of salt, but enough legitimate video game leaks have come from anonymous 4chan posts, to the point that this can’t be outright ignored.

Besides leaking the potential Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok release date, the leaker made a number of other claims about the rumored game as well. According to the leaker, Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok will have 4-player co-op, a massive open world, and a continued focus on the RPG elements seen in Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey.

Assassin’s Creed fans can also look forward to Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok coming to next-generation consoles as well, if the leak is to be believed. Apparently, Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok will be a cross-gen title, aiming for release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. This would be similar to Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, which was also a cross-gen title back in 2013, releasing on PS3 and Xbox 360 first while launching alongside the PS4 and Xbox One.

We can’t confirm or deny any of this information at the time of this writing, but clarification should come sooner rather than later. The leaker said that the rumored PS5 reveal event in February will be the first time we see Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok, so we’ll know by next month if there’s any truth to these claims.

Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok is rumored to be in development for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
