The goal in any game is to find and defeat all of the bosses, and it is no different in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. There are several cultists around the map, but the real challenge comes into play when players are tasked with defeating mythical monsters. One of these beasts can be found in the Cave of the Forgotten Isle.

There are some things players should know before choosing to go after the cyclops that resides within this cave. It might seem like an easy task, but there is more to it than meets the eye. Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about the Cave of the Forgotten Isle!

10 10. It Is Located On The Isle Of Thisvi

This cave can be found on the Isle of Thisvi, which is located between Phokis, Megaris, and Achaia. Many players uncover it during their exploration when they are about level 20 as most of the surrounding areas, except for Achaia are in this range.

There is one other quest on the Isle, but otherwise, you will have to travel elsewhere to level up before exploring the entire thing. There are so many other challenges in the area you can complete while waiting for the time when you can finally take on the monster hidden in the cave.

9 9. An Atlantis Artifact Is Housed Here

When players progress further through the story they uncover that their character has a connection to Atlantis. They are tasked with finding the artifacts hidden within the world by defeating several types of monsters.

One of these objects is hidden within this particular cave, which is why it will take some time before players are given access to the entire scenario. You can find a few others on Nisryos and Messara but there is four total for players to collect.

8 8. As Well As The Polyphemos Cyclops Bludgeon

When you defeat the monster in this cave you will also be rewarded with a powerful heavy weapon. It has several powerful abilities like +15% Assassin Damage, +15% Damage with Heavy Bladed Weapons, and +25% Damage on Elites and Bosses. This is especially useful when players are trying to track down and defeat cultists.

The only downfall is that it is slow to swing, so if you prefer speed then this might not be the right weapon for you. It is not great for every situation and takes a steady hand to wield, but it is highly rated among players as one of the best weapons.

7 7. You Should Be About Level 40

We mentioned earlier how a level 20 wouldn’t be able to take on the monster in this scenario,  but a level 40 can defeat it. Some say players can still win even if they are only a level 35, but if you prefer an easier time then it is best to upgrade a few more levels.

Players can take part in all sorts of challenges around the map to achieve this high standard, but be sure to upgrade your equipment along the way. The worst thing you can do is try and fight it without the proper weapons to back you up.

6 6. The Cavern You Fall Into Cannot Be Climbed

It is a common problem among players when they first come across this mission to become stuck inside of the cavern. They fall through the floor, swim through the water to the monster, and then try and climb their way out.

The only problem is that you can’t fast travel out of it once inside and your character is unable to climb all the way up the high cavern walls. There is an exit if you look to the left tunnel away from the monster. It looks like a dead-end, but all players have to do is climb up the rocks and it is a straight shot from there.

5 5. Players Need To Complete ‘A God Among Men’ Mission

If you want to make it into the separate room to battle the Cyclops, then you must complete the A God Among Men mission. Players should begin by heading to Kythera, where they will find Murex Fort.

A man named Empedokles will be trapped within the fort and you have to go through a series of tasks to free him. When the entire quest is done you will be granted access to the Cyclops in the cave. It is a relatively mission to complete, as long as your character is leveled up, so moving through it should feel like a breeze compared to the monster you have to face.

4 4. The Cyclops Has Several Attacks

When it comes time for you to face the cyclops in the cave, it is best to understand his attacks. He will clap his hands together and throw a gust of wind, or he will lumber around trying to squash you.

One of his best attacks is to stomp on the ground and rain debris down upon your head. All of these will cause significant damage to your character, and they only grow worse once he drops below 50% health.

3 3. Poison Works Best

The thing that works the best to defeat this monster is poison. It will consistently keep his health low and slow his advances even further. You can use any type of poison advantage, from weapons to the Venomous Attacks skill.

If you continually use these objects on him it will slowly diminish his health while ensuring you don’t have to go too close to his stomping feet or flailing arms. The other skills you use are up to you, but we doubt the fight will be easy without a bit of poison to help you out.

2 2. Learn The Pattern

The cyclops can seem tricky at first, but there is a pattern to his movements. When you study each of his attacks, you will notice that there are a small warning sign and standard transition that it chooses to use.

Players should also understand that when the cyclops’ health drops below 50% his range increases, as well as the damage he inflicts on your character. It is best when he reaches this point to strictly stick with arrows as any close encounters could end poorly.

1 1. Aim For His Eye

Many players choose to just use a bow during this fight because the goal is to shoot him in his eye. When you shoot the eye it will cause him to drop for a few seconds which opens him up for close-range attacks.

Players can use this time to inflict major damage while he is struggling on the ground. Make sure to fire quickly and limit the time it takes to aim as he will cover his eye if he spots your bow and arrow pointed at his face.
