Ubisoft has arguably created a masterpiece with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, as it takes everything that made Assassin’s Creed Origins great and dialed it up to 10. Prior to Origins, there’s no arguing the franchise had become old hat, but then the Egyptian story broke that franchise fatigue. Odyssey then came in, knocking it out of the park, and leaving many excited to see what the franchise offers come 2020.
However, until then, there is still plenty to do in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey after beating the game, which is by no means a small feat itself. Beating the main story and settling events with the player’s sibling takes roughly 40 hours, but that only ends one storyline. Players still have to deal with the cultists, hunting them down one by one before coming face to face with their leader. Then, players have to find and defeat the various mythical creatures found around Greece, which will require players to be at least level 50.
After all of that is said and done, players get to experience the true ending of the main campaign, which many would consider one of the best moments in Assassin’s Creed franchise history. Yet, for those truly enjoying the world of Greece is Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, it doesn’t have to end there. Here are 5 things players can do, even after finishing every major storyline.
5 Story Creator Mode
What better way is there to enjoy Greece than to make something in it? At the beginning of summer, Ubisoft introduced the Story Creator Mode for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which gives players the ability to design their own quests, utilize characters found throughout the game, and even include dialogue options. It’s an enjoyable way to enjoy the endgame, but when it launched, a number of exploitative easy quests (such as go here) were created that rewarded tons of XP, resulting in Odyssey’s Story Creator being changed to prevent XP farming.
4 Romance
While it is not the most intuitive romance system, there are plenty of characters who offer a romantic storyline in Odyssey. Several of these cannot even be reached until players are in the late game, as their home or island is an area where the enemies are far too high for players to explore. Then, there are some like Daphnae, for example, whose romance begins around level 13 but can’t be completed until level 45. So, for those who want to spend a little time looking for romance, we recommend checking out our guide on how to unlock every NPC romance in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
3 Minor and Major DLCs
Odyssey has received a ton of post-launch support, resulting in two major DLCs and ton of smaller, free ones. The two major DLCS, Legacy of the First Blade and the Fate of Atlantis, both have three episodes each and are both out at the time of this writing. Interested parties who have just been waiting for them all to come out won’t find a better time to do so, and it’s worth adding that the Torment of Hades episode of the Fate of Atlantis DLC stands out the most.
Those who want to play the game some more but don’t want to devote some time to playing the major DLCs can enjoy several of the minor DLCs. There are several quests that players can unlock, which add a rich layer of lore to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey such as one quest where someone takes the name of Eagle Bearer, completely messes things up, and then the PC tries to clear their name while messing everything up. Minor side quests aside, these minor DLCs also add a couple more Cyclops for the player to fight.
2 Ancient Greece Sightseeing
Ubisoft’s Ancient Greece world is one of pure beauty, so for history buffs and graphics lovers, this world is basically the best playground. While there are plenty of places to visit that would warm the coldest heart, here are a few we would recommend enjoying: the highest point on the map (cross from the Chasm of Taygetus to Mount Taygetus and proceed up the mountain range), the small town of Lalaia in Phokis, The Silver Islands, and Korinth, especially at night time.
1 New Game Plus
The final question becomes: “what do you do after you’ve completed all of the aforementioned items and most of the quests in the game?” The answer is quite simple really, which is to play it again. It offers enough content such as the multiple endings (yes, it can end with everyone alive) and the mercenaries to keep the content fresh for at least one more go. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s New Game Plus mode allows players to swap playable characters and transfers level, stats, abilities, and gear to be played once more.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version in the works.
