Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey is one of the most epic and involved games in the franchise. It’s a roleplaying game that adds onto the basic premise of the game with an open-world to explore, tons of side quests, choices that affect your gameplay, an in-depth storyline, and more.

One thing you’ll need to make yourself familiar with while playing is the many vendors in the world. Many of them sell different items, and their wares can change every time you visit. Here are the handiest things to purchase from the vendors in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.

10 Horse Skins

Your horse Phobos is a massive part of your journey. You’ll frequently ride on horseback to get from place-to-place since its a much faster way to travel than on foot. The game also allows you to change the appearance of Phobos by purchasing Horse Skins.

The more you play the game, the more likes you’ll come across rare Horse Skins while shopping. Blacksmiths sell a wide variety of Horse Skins, but the skins available at any given Blacksmith will appear at random. It might take some time for you to find the one you want. You can also use real money to buy them through the Helix Store.

9 Wood

Similar to crafting materials, which we’ll get to next, wood is going to be one of the most important items you can find or buy in the game if you plan on using your crossbow often.

People who enjoy stealth kills and sharpshooting will want to buy up all the wood sold at their local Blacksmith when it’s available and be on the lookout for it in the wild. Wood is necessary to craft arrows, and the game offers many different types of arrows, including poison, paralyzing, explosive, and fire.

8 Crafting materials

You will need to acquire crafting materials in the game if you want to upgrade your weapons and armor. Building the best arsenal requires hard work. You can find most crafting items by looting, but if you’re in dire need of something it can be easier to check with local vendors in the area.

You can also dismantle the armors you’re no longer using to get crafting materials. Vendors often change their stock so it’s not always easy to find the one selling what you need.

7 Ship cosmetics

Once you get control of your own ship the Adrestia, you’ll be able to start customizing it. You’ll find hulls, themes, designs, and figureheads hidden throughout the game. Typically, you won’t be able to purchase these items and will instead get them from treasure hunting and completing certain quests.

However, one special vendor does sell them, Oikos the Olympian. We’ll get into the other items Oikos sells below, but not many people realize he sells rare items to design and personalize your ship. If you like the idea of dramatically changing its appearance, you’ll definitely want to stop by and visit Oikos.

6 Ancient Tablets

If you really want to upgrade your ship, the Adrestia to Legendary status, you’ll need to collect as many Ancient Tablets as possible. While you can find them out in the wild during your looting, it’s important to check every Blacksmith to see if they’re selling them.

All the vendors in the game restock items at random so you won’t ever know when exactly Ancient Tablets will appear in their inventory. That’s why it’s a good idea to visit and revisit Blacksmitsh as often as possible.

5 Weapon Enhancements

If you have a weapon you’re attached to and don’t plan on giving it up, but it’s not exactly strong enough to enter combat at your advanced level, you can always get it upgraded or enhanced by a local Blacksmith.

It can be expensive to purchase weapon upgrades but worth it if you’re someone who wants to keep the same sword for the majority of the game. You can also visit a special vendor at Hephaistos’ Workshop, which is located in the Mallis region, specifically inside the Myson cave. There, you’ll be able to get even better upgrades.

4 Engravings

Speaking of Hephaistos’s Workshop, you can also find all the weapon engravings you’ve unlocked so far in addition to very high-tier skills. It’s expensive, often costing upwards of 30,000 drachmae for one exceedingly good skill, but for some, it is worth it.

You can buy engravings at other vendors in the game too but most of the time you’ll find them while looting and completing other tasks. If you haven’t seen Haphaistos’s Workshop before, it’s because it was added into one of the later game updates. It’s worth seeking out.

3 Epic and Legendary equipment

You will encounter the special vendor named Oikos the Olympian when you reach Pilgrim’s Landing on Phokis. Oikos is different from the other vendors you’ll encounter in the game because he only accepts currency in the form of Orichalcum Ore.

You’ll find Orichalcum Ore by doing certain tasks and collecting fragments. Oikos sells Epic and Legendary armor. If you’re looking for something of a higher standard to dress your character in, then Oikos is the place you’ll want to go. He sells a variety of equipment you can’t find anywhere else.

2 Epic and Legendary weapons

Similar to the above explanation, Oikos the Olympian is a special vendor that sells different items every week, ranging from Epic to Legendary. We’ve already mentioned that you can buy various armor from Oikos by using Orichalcom Ore but you can also get equally expensive and rare weapons.

Some of the weapons Oikos has sold in the past include the Worship Sword, Sauroter, Stone Axe, and Battle Staff. If you want to know exactly what Orichalcom is selling on a given week, there are plenty of guides online to help you.

1 Olympian Gift

For those who are little more indecisive, you can simply buy an Olympian Gift from Oikos. These “gifts” are, in essence, loot boxes that will provide you with one Epic and one Legendary item.

The items in question will be rare and can vary from equipment to weaponry to ship cosmetics. You won’t know what you’re going to get until you open them. Buying these loot boxes comes with the risk of getting something you don’t want or already have, but it can be fun to purchase a surprise.
