Assassin’s Creed Infinity, the upcoming uber-game, will, reportedly feature an Asian setting. This is according to a report from Kotaku, which claims that the game has the code-name “Project Red.”

Recently, Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb reported that the game could well be set in Japan. Kotaku’s report doesn’t confirm this to be the case. But it does report that Ubisoft has discussed the idea of a Japanese setting for some time.

Meanwhile, Jason Schreier commented on the report (via VGC), saying that Project Red is part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity. And that Infinity “will be a platform for future AC games including Red.”

We first heard about Assassin’s Creed Infinity last year, and that it was going to be a live service platform. Ubisoft then confirmed the game officially. At the time, the developer put out a statement, saying:

“Rather than continuing to pass the baton from game to game, we profoundly believe this is an opportunity for one of Ubisoft’s most beloved franchises to evolve in a more integrated and collaborative manner that’s less centered on studios and more focused on talent and leadership, no matter where they are within Ubisoft. ”

Later on, in October, 2021, the company then confirmed that the game won’t be a free-to-play title.
