As fans have been speculating, Apex Legends will be introducing a brand new Town Takeover event for the Legend Wraith. However, contrary to speculation, the event won’t be Halloween-themed. Instead, the Town Takeover will be part of a September in-game event named Voidwalker. Apex Legends players can expect Voidwalker to feature all sorts of new content, as the Wraith Town Takeover is just the start.

Voidwalker begins on September 3 and will run for two weeks through September 17. The event will focus on Wraith’s lore, revealing secrets from the character’s mysterious past. Akin to the Octane Town Takeover, part of the King’s Canyon map will be transformed at the start of the event. This section of the map is already marked off by construction flags in-game, and these changes to Apex Legends’ map, like Octane’s, will be permanent.

In addition to the Town Takeover, the typical event-related content can be expected in Apex Legends. A Limited-Time Mode named Armed and Dangerous will last for the entire two weeks. This mode will be limited to snipers and shotguns, while overall loot is difficult to find. Voidwalker will also have event-exclusive challenges that reward skins and other Wraith-themed content, and there will also be a special double XP opportunity for top 5 finishes between September 6 and September 9.

Finally, as with prior Apex Legends events, there will be premium cosmetics available. It isn’t clear if there will be an event-exclusive loot box, but Respawn is delivering on its promise to offer all such premium cosmetics as direct purchases nonetheless. An event-exclusive Voidwalker Wraith Legendary will be available for 1,800 Apex Coins, as well as 6 event-exclusive cosmetics which each cost 500 coins. Respawn is also adding 6 cosmetics to the regular loot pool, which will also be offered via direct purchase.

While the Voidwalker Apex Legends event isn’t the Halloween event that many Apex Legends players were hoping for, it’s perhaps better. Voidwalker is instead a bonus event. It’ll fit into September, prior to the expected launch of Apex Legends Season 3 in early October. That means more content in general for Apex Legends players. Voidwalker, Season 3, and then Halloween will potentially land one after the other. Compared to previous months’ content release pace, Respawn seems to be ramping things up.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
