Apex Legends developer Respawn has wasted no time getting fresh new content to its players this month, delivering a new limited-time event just in time for Valentine’s Day. The new event, “Rendezvous,” will be available from February 11-18, launching just one week after the massive changes brought about by Season 4, “Assimilation.”
The announcement comes via Apex’s official Twitter page, by way of an absolutely terrible pun (we appreciate the attempt nonetheless).
The Valentine’s Day event will feature the well-received duos playlist, insinuating that players should tag-team with someone special during the love-themed week. This isn’t the first time Apex introduced the duo mode as Respawn previously introduced the option early November of last year – and players loved it. Needless to say, the community is already hyped to get the playlist back.
Additionally, Respawn is adding a “Double Up” XP boost – all you have to do is squad up with a friend and play the new duos playlist to earn twice the amount of XP as normal. Considering the addition of 400 new levels (now a 500 level cap) – this may come in particularly handy for those trying to power-level to the top.
Duos aren’t the only thing coming to the game, however; New love-themed weapon charms, skins, and a badge are due to make appearances throughout the week. Upon logging into Apex for the first time during the event, players will receive a new badge.
The new badge features “Nessie” with a rose in its mouth, surrounded by hearts. Valentine’s badge aside, the first few days will feature a Nessie weapon charm as well as last year’s “Through the Heart” DMR; The last four days will feature a pathfinder-cupid hybrid weapon charm coupled with last year’s “Love of the Game” pathfinder frame.
Pathfinder seems to be receiving an extra amount of love by receiving two features in the store during the event. Perhaps developers at Respawn are compensating for the fact that robots are incapable of experiencing love… or are they?
Deep questions aside, it is nice to receive more content from developers so soon after the launch of the new season. Even if it is a limited-time duo mode and some new skins – the more content the merrier.
