Lifeline can be an incredibly helpful character in Apex Legends, and she can save your team an immense amount of healing items throughout a match. There are few (if any) other characters in this game that have even anywhere close to the support capabilities that Lifeline provides, and in the right hands, she can be a nigh-on unkillable force of nature.
Let’s take a look at some tips for getting the most out of Lifeline, and showcase some team compositions that she’s going to really thrive in:
10 RECOVER
The immediate benefit everybody is going to think about with Lifeline is her ability to recover from a fight with ease immediately after it’s over. She can save herself (and her teammates) a quite-frankly-ludicrous amount of Syringes throughout the match with her D.O.C. drone.
Though the drone won’t be able to fully heal everybody at the same time, it can restore 150 health overall, which is still a considerable amount (that’s a Medkit and a half).
9 MID-FIGHT HEALTH
That drone doesn’t need to hold off until the fight is over, either. If you find yourself hurting and have a spot that you don’t mind sticking to for a while, you can plop that drone down right in the middle of the fight for some passive healing. This gives you the chance to quickly recharge your shield and continue fighting from whatever location you’re at, all while your health is regenerating without much maintenance from you.
At 7.5 health per second, the drone can also make a pretty substantial difference in a 1v1 fight, basically giving you some extra health to work with, similar to how Gibraltar is strong in a 1v1 with his Gun Shield.
8 QUICKER HEALING
Thought that was all the healing bonuses? Not yet. Lifeline gets a 25% speed increase to all of her healing, such as syringes, Medkits, and the sort. On something like a Syringe or a Shield Cell, this isn’t going to make a huge difference since that 25% increase isn’t going to be drastic on the already short time those take to use.
But on a Medkit, Shield Battery, or a Pheonix Kit, that 25% increase is going to make a substantial difference.
7 DRAWING ATTENTION
Keep in mind, when Lifeline calls in her Supply Drop, it’s going to draw attention. It doesn’t take much for someone to notice the drop, look at their map (or just see how quickly it’s dropping), and realize that it’s not a normal map drop.
Some teams will actively avoid the area instead of provoking a fight, but more often than not, if another team sees that drop on the way, they’re going to push. Always keep an eye out when dropping one of these.
6 CREATING BAIT
That can also be used to your advantage. If your team is looking for a fight, Lifeline has the perfect bait. Set up whatever ambush you’re looking for, call that Supply Drop in, and wait.
Most of the time, it isn’t going to take too long for a team to wander over and play right into your hands.
5 EASIER REVIVES
Similar to how Lifeline can use healing items quicker, she can also revive allies quicker. Instead of the normal five seconds it takes other characters to revive allies, Lifeline can do it in four; that extra second can make a big difference when an enemy is pushing you.
Plus, when reviving a teammate, Lifeline creates a pretty big shield in whatever direction she’s facing, blocking any and all damage coming from that way.
4 REVIVES HARDER TO CONCEAL
That being said, that shield she creates when reviving a teammate can actually be a detriment in the wrong circumstances. If Lifeline is trying to get a revive off on the sly, that shield is going to be a dead giveaway. Instead of just having a sound to track down the revive, enemies get a huge, glowing shield acting as a beacon advertising your presence and the fact that you’re vulnerable.
This can be used as bait, much like the Supply Drop, but it’s going to be quite a lot riskier.
Since Lifeline can heal herself (and teammates) a considerable amount without syringes, this can save her from having to carry those syringes around, essentially giving her an extra inventory slot.
Most of the time, this is going to end up allowing you to carry some more throwables; any one of those throwables can be the difference between victory and defeat, so that extra slot is not insignificant. This is especially true in those final circles when there isn’t a lot of space to maneuver.
2 OCTANE, GIBRALTAR, LIFELINE
A team composition that takes that last point and runs with it involves Octane and Gibraltar, along with Lifeline. Octane regenerates health passively as long as he isn’t in combat, and Gibraltar’s got a lot of utility making it pretty easy for him to win a fight without losing anything more than his shield.
Since Lifeline has her D.O.C. drone, this really allows all three of these characters to forego bringing syringes, resulting in six extra throwables being brought than would be otherwise. Having this amount of extra throwables can make an enemy team’s life a living hell.
1 REVENANT, CAUSTIC, LIFELINE
If you’re a team that relishes every chance to set up a good ambush, consider bringing both a Revenant and a Caustic with your Lifeline. Lifeline can drop her Supply Drop as bait, and as soon as enemies rush the drop, Caustic can drop his ultimate ability to blanket the enemies in toxic smoke while Revenant can use his active ability to prevent enemies from using theirs.
The whole enemy team is going to be mostly blind, stuck in toxic gas, unable to use any abilities to escape, all while your team has them in a crossfire. This team composition can result in some of the easiest fights you’ll ever see.
