Bioware has dropped patch 1.2.0 for troubled shooter Anthem onto live servers, and though it’s light on front-of-house changes, players have been informed it contains a fair few tweaks to the backend in preperation for the long delayed Cataclysm event.
Update 1.2.0 does add three new Emerald Abyss Legendary Missions, a ping and emote system, lore on the loading screens and tweaks for Freeplay mode that include an improved compass and the ability to fast travel to different strider locations around the map. You can read the full patch notes here.
In a post on the EA Answers forum accompanying the release, Anthem’s community manager mentioned that the Cataclysm update wasn’t going to be rushed, and that ‘We want to take time and get feedback from you and make changes based on what we hear.’ To that end, the Cataclysm will be rolled out to the public test servers first, before it comes to the live servers.
As to what we can expect in the Cataclysm, the post also mentioned that Bioware intend to show off a first look at the event in a livestream planned later today on the game’s social channels at 9pm UK time later this evening.
Along with today’s Game Update, we’re dropping more news during tomorrow’s #AnthemGame livestream, starting 3PM CT / 1PM PT.
