American Truck Simulator is the long-awaited follow up to 2012’s Euro Truck Simulator 2, taking the same core experience to a new, vast setting. Jim loves it and he’s not entirely sure why, so enjoy his manic attempts at an explanation to an increasingly bewildered Dave. There’s some lovely 60fps footage too:
The biggest challenge in American Truck Simulator is reverse parking, an optional step that must be completed if you want the maximum reward for a job. Jim made Simon, Dave and Tom attempt the manoeuvre with hilarious results here.
American Truck Simulator currently includes California and Nevada, with Arizona being added soon as free DLC. SCS Software plan to expand the map with free and paid updates in the future, even suggesting on their website that they plan to cover “the whole continent”, while lamenting that it will take them “years”. We’re looking forward to the prospect of driving from the west coast to the east, although we might be waiting a long time for it to happen.
We’re planning to stream some American Truck Simulator in the future, where Jim will attempt to teach Burns how to drive a big truck. He can barely manage it himself. In the meantime, Jim and Burns have been streaming Fallout 4 every week.
Trucks aside, Dave loves driving. At the moment he’s loving DiRT Rally, and recently previewed the upcoming PS4 version.
